GCSE Exam papers, syllabus specifications and marking schemes

What are syllabus specifications?

Syllabus specifications are detailed lists of everything you need to learn for your exams. You can use them as a check-list to make sure you've covered everything. But don't forget that there is no substitute for buying a copy of the text book that is written specifically for your syllabus!

Each exam board has more than one syllabus for each subject. So, you must find out two things:

1. what exam board will your school be using for each subject

2. which syllabus you'll be following for each subject.

There are five exam board in the UK: OCR, Edexcel, AQA,WJEC and CCEA.

You must know 6 things:
1. Are you taking individual sciences or combined science?
2. Higher tier or Foundation?
3. Linear or modular?
4. If combined science, are you doing double or single?
5. Exam board
6. Syllabus number
