Maths - AQA modular B

All groups will be taking part in AQA's modular GCSE with Functional Skills. This means that students will achieve 2 GCSE's and a Functional Skills qualification. The module tests are as follows:

* Unit 1 (Functional skills) May of Y10
* Unit 2 (Number and statistics) June of Y10
* Unit 3 (Algebra and shape) June of Y11
* Additional Maths GCSE (No extra content) June of Y11

Science

Two GCSE Science courses are offered:
o Double Award (Modular) Science
o Applied Science

The two courses above are both double award and at the end of the course pupils obtain two passes: AA, BB, CC etc. and they count as two GCSE grades.

Assessment

Double Award (Modular) Science

Year 10 modules are assessed by means of end of module tests
Year 11 modules are assessed by means of a final examination
Investigations count for 20% of the final mark. These are teacher assessed.

Applied Science

Assignments count for 60% of the final mark. These are teacher assessed.
There are two written examinations in Year 11.
